Match-shroom Latte

 

Reporting live from Day 40 😲 of my abstinence from coffee, and yes - I have lived to tell about it!

In case it helps anyone trying to do the same, here’s how I quit coffee:

Day 1 - cold turkey, no noticeable side effects. I must be special.
Day 2 - my god I’ve never had a migraine like this
Day 3 - not easy but ok, here we are
Day 4 - I said I was doing this so I’m doing it
Day 5 - enter the Match-shroom Latte

I think the key was depriving myself of caffeine for enough days so that when I brought in a “coffee substitute” it seemed like an amazing gift rather than a step down from my normal caffeinated expectations.

It’s not caffeine-free, but probably a quarter of the caffeine I used to have in a day, spread out over a week or more. I’m calling that a win.

Make a batch to last:

ingredients

  • 1 tbsp. reishi mushroom powder

  • 1 tbsp. lion’s mane mushroom powder

  • 1 tbsp. ashwaganda powder

  • 1 tbsp. cordyceps mushroom powder

  • 2 tbsp. cocoa powder

  • 1 tbsp. matcha powder

  • date syrup (or honey, maple syrup, agave) to taste

  • heavy cream or raw whole milk to taste

directions

  1. mix the dry ingredients together thoroughly and store in a jar

  2. add hot water to 1 spoonful of the powder mix

  3. add sweetener and milk/cream of your choice
